Interview Questions
what is one specific thing that you did to prepare for your post-grad career?
- Saving money was one thing I planned (and failed) to do in prep for post-grad. However, the most significant preparation for me turned out to be the culmination of years of exploring, studying, and learning my craft.
How was the transition for you moving from DC to a busy city like L.A.?
- Socially, It was pretty simple for me as I had friends and acquaintances there. Professionally and financially it was pretty rough. I realized quickly the politics of hiring/casting. Building solid professional connects took a chunk of time.
Are your videography and editing skills self-taught and if so, how did you teach yourself?
- Yes! Most of the editing tools I possess came from years of experimenting with different software and amateur projects.
- Otherwise, Youtube has been extremely instrumental in sharpening my skills.
With your medium of artistic expression being highly involved with digital media, were you honestly affected by covid-19? and if so in what ways?
- Absolutely! Covid-19 had a direct impact on my living arrangements, upcoming jobs, and mental health. I was out of commission for some time, but then I used that time to understand myself more while sharpening and learning new skills.
what is some advice that you would give to someone who is unsure of how their career will unfold after graduation?
- The best advice I can give is: be okay with knowing that you’ll never be sure of how the future will unfold. You’ve taken this time in school to build the necessary tools for your career. Be confident in that and be open to new ventures! Learning to adapt when necessary has been a very good friend of mine.
